Brick Cleaning Sydney
Fresh brickwork is covered in mortar smears, dust, and residue from the laying process. Until it's cleaned, even the best bricklaying looks unfinished. Brick cleaning is a specialist job - done wrong, it burns the bricks, damages the mortar joints, and leaves a patchy, streaked finish that's permanent. Done right, it brings the brickwork up to a clean, even, finished surface that shows the work off properly.
Our brick cleaning services
New build brick cleaning
The standard post-bricklaying clean on a new home, extension, or commercial build. Mortar smears, snots, and residue removed, the wall washed down to an even finish, ready for handover. Timed correctly after the mortar has cured but before residue sets hard.
Acid washing
Controlled acid washing to remove stubborn mortar residue and bring out the true colour of the brick. This is where experience matters most - acid concentration, dwell time, pre-wetting, and thorough rinsing all have to be right or the bricks are damaged. We use the correct method for the specific brick type rather than a one-size approach.
Efflorescence removal
Efflorescence is the white salt deposit that surfaces on new brickwork as it dries out. It's common on Sydney builds and it can keep returning if not treated properly. We remove the deposit and treat the surface to reduce recurrence.
Why brick cleaning goes wrong
Acid burn is the most common failure - too strong a solution, left on too long, or applied to bricks that weren't pre-wet. The result is discolouration and a patchy, blotchy wall that can't be fixed without rerendering or replacement. The second common failure is mortar joint damage from over-aggressive cleaning. We avoid both by matching the method to the brick and the mortar, pre-wetting properly, and rinsing thoroughly.
